ACCC questions stamp price increase

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has called for comment on Australia Post’s proposal to increase the price of the basic postage stamp.

The ACCC today released an issues paper seeking comment on Australia Post’s proposal to  increase the basic postage rate from 55 cents to 60 cents, as well as increases in the price of other mail services including large and small ordinary letters, large and small pre-sort ordinary letters, clean mail, reply paid mail, impact mail and local delivery mail.

Australia Post lodged a draft notification with the ACCC containing the proposals. The ACCC are now seeking submissions from interested parties on key issues.

Submissions should reach the ACCC by September 18. The draft notification, issues paper and submissions received will be available on the ACCC’s website.
