Apple refutes exploding iPhone claims

Tech giant Apple has refused to take responsibility for claims in Europe that iPhone screens have been exploding in people’s faces.

A number of iPhone users across Europe have reported exploding screens, due to overheating batteries, with the large number of incidents sparking an investigation by the European Comission’s official watchdog.

However, Apple said in a statement to the French news service AFP that it had observed no evidence that the exploding screens were caused by overheating batteries, instead pointing the finger at consumers, explaining the incidents occurred due to “external force.”

Apple’s French commercial director, Michel Coulomb, met with consumer affairs minister Herve Novelli last week in order to discuss the claims, but said it was too early to tell whether the damage had been caused by a manufacturing fault or by the user.
