Aussies encouraged to take holiday at home

The Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson has today launched Tourism Australia’s No Leave, No Life campaign to encourage Australians to use their accrued leave and $900 stimulus bonus on a local Aussie holiday.

The No Leave, No Life program has been developed in conjunction with the business community to offer employees and employers the tools necessary to achieve a work/life balance, whilst attempting to boost the local tourism industry.

According to Ferguson, the campaign is about Australians “getting behind the thousands of small businesses and the half a million jobs that are supported by our home-grown tourism industry.”

He has urged Aussies to consider putting their $900 bonus towards a great Australian holiday.

“In these difficult times, I hope all Australians will stop and think what they can do to kick our economy along and help keep the jobs of their fellow Australians – a great Aussie holiday is a great start.”

He also believes that, by encouraging staff to use their accrued leave, employers are “sensibly managing their liabilities and creating a more productive, happier and healthier workforce.”
