Businesses to start hiring again

Australian bosses are looking to start hiring again as the outlook for the economy continues to brighten, a new survey has revealed.

The Manpower employment survey has found that the net employment outlook rose by nine percent in the fourth quarter.

“Hiring intentions have strengthened across all of the industry sectors in Australia,” said the report.

Of the 2333 companies surveyed, 18 percent said they expected to hire more, while nine percent predicted job cuts. The majority – 72 percent – said they foresee no change.

Of those industries looking to hire, financial services and real estate experienced a seven percent jump, mining & construction increased 13 percent, and services rose 15 percent. In the wholesale and retail trade sectors, employers reported a nine percent jump in hiring plans for the quarter.
