LinkedIn opens Sydney office for 1 million Australian members

LinkedIn have opened for business in Sydney after surpassing one million members in Australia and more than 60 million members globally.

LinkedIn have appointed Steve Barham from LinkedIn’s headquarters in Mount View, Calif. to take the role of director for recruitment solutions for LinkedIn Australia and New Zealand in their new Pitt St Sydney office.

“We’re seeing great momentum as we connect more and more Australian professionals and provide them a platform to advance their careers,” said Clifford Rosenberg, managing director of LinkedIn Australia and New Zealand. “Our research confirms that networking is critical to Australian professionals in order to achieve their goals and build their businesses. LinkedIn offers a highly effective way for them to network in a timely manner online or via their mobile.”

“By establishing a local presence, we can focus on developing strategic partnerships to enhance LinkedIn usage. Our marketing efforts will be directed towards raising awareness for our premium subscriptions, advertising, recruitment products and driving user engagement,” he added.

LinkedIn has a strong business model that is comprised of user subscriptions, online advertising and enterprise software licensing. Recruiters find LinkedIn powerful as it not only provides them the opportunity to target active candidates looking for jobs, but they can also reach out to passive candidates.
