Never underestimate the power of social media!

Coverage of Clare the ‘fake’ Kings Cross bogan may have generated a whopping $200K in equivalent advertising dollars in social media. Wow.

Social media intelligence service BuzzNumbers, has been tracking conversations about Clare Werberloff on the web since her YouTube video went viral on Monday last week. Seven days later, it found that more than 41,186 conversations had occurred online on Australian websites: this equates to more than $200,000 in equivalent advertising dollars on Australian websites and social media destinations alone.

Whatever you think of the story itself, it just goes to show how hugely influential social media is. Personally, I never fail to be staggered by the massive referral rate from Twitter to dynamicbusiness.com.au. One week we even got more referrals from there than Google. Incredible.

Never underestimate what Twitter in particular could do for your small-to-medium business. I’m hearing more fascinating success stories by the day.
