The entrepreneur behind the She’s Empowered workwear line for women, has now expanded her collection of high-visibility shirts to include maternity wear.

Kym Clark, owner and founder of the workwear supplier, said she got the idea when she saw her pregnant manager wearing a men’s high vis shirt unbuttoned over a singlet in a meeting last year.

With the large number of women now employed in the mining and resources sector, Clark was surprised to learn there were no maternity options for women in one of Australia’s largest industries.

As a result the Baby Bump maternity shirt with box pleats was created to accommodate growing pregnant bellies. Clark said it’s a move the industry was long overdue to see.

Clark said with fly in fly out options, attractive salary packages and skills shortages, women are increasingly representing more of the resources workforce.

“Women work in all areas of the industry from administration to underground and open cut roles, and often work upwards of 50 hours a week. They deserve to wear a well-fitted uniform just like those women in any other workplace. How we feel in our clothes plays a significant role in our confidence levels, and our confidence levels are important in our work,” she added.
