Online art marketplace to represent Australia at world championships for creative entrepreneurs

Australian start up, Bluethumb, has been selected to compete at the world championships for the Creative Business Cup held in Copenhagen, Denmark, after successfully pitching at Australia’s Creative³ forum in Brisbane.

Bluethumb, co-founded by George and Edward Hartley, is Australia’s leading online art marketplace bridging the gap between art enthusiasts and the artists themselves.

After qualifying to compete at the international Creative Business Cup through QUT Creative Enterprise Australia’s Creative³ Pitch, George said “we believe we are building something really great with Bluethumb here in Australia which has global market potential. Showcasing it at an international competition like the Creative Business Cup is a great first step to reaching that global stage.”

QUT Creative Enterprise Australia CEO, Anna Rooke said “the Creative³ Pitch is Australia’s only event dedicated to connecting creative ventures with investors. We’re proud to be the first Australian host for the Creative Business Cup and to support Bluethumb in their international debut.

“Bluethumb will have the opportunity to pitch to some of the biggest venture capitalists in Europe and compete for a prize pool of over USD $35,000. Last year’s Creative³ Pitch finalists went on to secure early stage investment also, so this is potentially a life-changing opportunity for all involved.”

Bluethumb will be competing against 63 countries at the Creative Business Cup in Denmark from 17-18 November. The winner will be selected by an international jury based on their creativity and market potential.

Speaking to Dynamic Business about their approach to the upcoming pitch in Denmark, Edward said “we will simply try to articulate what Bluethumb does and how it’s relevant beyond the Australian art market. The aim is to learn as much as possible and bring home new ideas – and enjoy ourselves!”
