  7. 14% of the population are 65 years of age or older
  8. The median household weekly income is $1,234
  9. 26% of the population were born overseas, with 21% of these being born in the UK (the most common country of origin)
  10. 2.6 is the average number of people per household

If you are looking to market B2C, it is well worth doing your research and learning as much as you can about your target audience. Targeting groups of consumers can be made far more effective by having in depth knowledge of their demographics, and where they are located.

In addition to giving a general overview of the Australian population, census data can be broken down into regional areas, which is perfect for those who are looking to target consumers in a specific location.
