Acronis has released a free online calculator to enable small businesses to estimate the storage savings they can achieve using deduplication technology to cut storage requirements.

The user enters the number of servers and workstations being backed up, the data change rate and the cost of data storage into the deduplication calculator. The calculator will then estimate the storage space savings, the storage cost savings and the percentage of savings through deduplication.

Bill Taylor-Mountford, general manager of Acronis said the online calculator is designed to give organisations an insight into the potential storage cost savings with deduplication.

“Data deduplication is one of the hottest technologies in IT because it can save an organisation hundreds of thousands of dollars,” he added.
