Activity statements and super contributions due

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has issued a reminder to businesses that June quarterly statements and super contributions are due by July 28.

The easiest and securest way to lodge activity statements is through the online business portal, says Geoff Robinson, deputy commissioner.

“Businesses may be eligible for a two week extension on their activity statement if they lodge and pay online,” adds Robinson.

“If you are concerned that you may not be able to meet the deadline or pay your total tax debt, contact the Tax Office as soon as possible,” says Robinson. “We will work with you to put in place a suitable payment arrangement to help you meet your obligations.”

Another reminder; super contributions must be paid to the employee’s choice of fund. And from July 1, ordinary time earnings must be used when calculating super guarantee contributions for employees.

For further information about completing and lodging an activity statement, visit www.ato.gov.au/business or call 13 28 66. For any queries about superannuation obligations, visit www.ato.gov.au or call 13 10 20.
