Amazon launches cheap unlimited cloud storage

Amazon is clearly looking to disrupt the cloud industry, offering customers unlimited cloud storage for $US60 per year

The company has announced two new storage plans that aim to attract cloud users looking for cheaper deals. Those looking for an unlimited amount of online storage space will be hard-pressed to find better deals than the Unlimited Photos Plan and the Unlimited Everything Plan. Both plans offer 3-month trials and are obtained with one flat fee per year.

The Unlimited Photos Plan will set users back $US11.99 per year, after a free 3-month trial. If photo storage is your desire, this is certainly it. An unlimited amount of photos can be uploaded to Cloud Drive, while the extra 5 GB storage included allows for videos and other files.

The aptly titled Unlimited Everything Plan offers an endless amount of storage for $US59.99 per year – also after a 3-month trial. An infinite amount of photos, videos, documents and music can be stored in the cloud service for what works out to be around $US5 a month.

“Most people have a lifetime of birthdays, vacations, holidays, and everyday moments stored across numerous devices. And, they don’t know how many gigabytes of storage they need to back all of them up,” Director of Amazon Cloud Drive Josh Petersen said in a statement.

“With the two new plans we are introducing today, customers don’t need to worry about storage space—they now have an affordable, secure solution to store unlimited amounts of photos, videos, movies, music, and files in one convenient place.”

The new plans are available for Prime members and Fire device owners already on unlimited plans, while existing Cloud Drive customers can change plans through their current accounts.
