Apple iPhone OS 3.0 software updates cause mass hysteria
iPhone users across the globe eagerly awaited the software update for the Apple iPhone OS 3.0 yesterday.
Reports circled violently that Apple had delayed the iPhone 3.0 software update until today, June 18. The reports sent iPhone users into a tailspin, resulting in the Apple website and subsequent websites being flooded with irate and anxious users.
However there was no delay, the time difference between countries simply meant that download times would vary.
The updates are now available for download worldwide, free for existing iPhone owners and $9.95 for iPod Touch owners.
The updates have created mass hysteria among iPhone users, with Apple claiming the updates will significantly enhance the user experience.
Updates include: the ability to copy and paste, send and receive multimedia messages; Spotlight (searching the contents of the iPhone); improved online Calendar support tethering to allow use of the iPhone as a cellular modem (subject to network operator approval) and push technology allowing applications to alert users when a message or event is received.
Apple has also improved the consistency of its user interface, adding a landscape-format on-screen keyboard across all core applications.
