Blackberry rivals iPhone with app store
Blackberry’s app store is now available to Australian and New Zealand, following the launch late last week.
In a bid to rival Apple’s iPhone app store, Research in Motion (RIM) announced on Friday that Blackberry App World (www.blackberry.com/appworld) is now available to BlackBerry® smartphone* customers in Australia and New Zealand, bringing together a broad mix of free mobile applications.
BlackBerry App World can be accessed over both Wi-Fi® and mobile phone networks in Australia and New Zealand and can be downloaded directly to the smartphone.
Key features include: most downloaded apps, app reviews from users, folders in which to store downloaded applications, notifications of updated applications, and much more.
Commenting on the launch, Adele Beachley, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion said: “BlackBerry App World provides a fantastic new resource and enhanced experience for customers and an equally exciting business opportunity for RIM’s partners.”
