CBA NetBank bungle leaves customers fuming

The ongoing problems with the Commonwealth Bank’s internet banking system, Netbank have left customers fuming, and have raised questions about the stability of the bank’s IT infrastructure.

The Netbank bug emerged on Monday and was thought to be a possible cyber attack. While the issue was thought to be resolved, Netbank customers have still been unable to view their transaction history.

According to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald, many have called into question the stability of the system, wondering why the bank does not have a disaster recovery plan in place to prevent such a situation from occurring.

The criticism of the bank’s technology comes 14 months after it launched its $580 million core banking modernisation upgrade. The program, expected to last four years, has coincided with a number of glitches.
