Energy efficiency program for small business

The NSW Government is set to help small businesses cut back on energy usage and save money with the introduction of the Energy Efficiency for Small Business program.

The program is designed to provide support to small businesses in the form of financial rebates along with advice on how to reduce power usage. The program will become part of the NSW Government’s $150 million Energy Efficiency Strategy, helping households, government and business to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Businesses that use up to $20,000 in electricity a year will qualify for the program receiving financial support for a personalised energy assessment and action plan. A rebate of up to $5,000 will be provided for businesses that use $5,000-$20,000 a year in electricity, and $2,000 for businesses that use less than $5,000 a year in electricity.

The program will provide funding to businesses where energy efficient measures are applied to lighting and heating, electric motors, air compressors and commercial refrigeration.

For more information on the program, visit the Department of Environment and Climate Change website.

  • Thanks for a good read. I agree that it can take a while before your investment in solar panels returns. But on the other hand, it is a very positive thing for our environment and it really helps!
