Internet scammers target swine flu

Cyber criminals are exploiting the global panic created over the swine flu pandemic by selling fake drugs and harvesting credit card numbers.

Security experts F-Secure have complied a list of 146 swine flu-related websites that have been registered over the past couple of days that pose a possible security risk.

Some of these sites are selling fake prevention guides or cures and consumers are being advised to be wary of such sites and to excise extreme caution on the web.

Businesses are being encouraged to step up their security systems, with a Synamtec expert claiming the swine flu scare has “spawned a spamming frenzy.”
