iPhone apps on show at Macworld 2010

iPhone apps are the focus of this year’s Macworld exhibition will be the world’s largest face-to-face viewing of Apple’s iPhone apps and iPod touch applications. With attendees at Macworld 2010 able to test-drive over 100 of the hottest apps and meet the app developers at the Mobile Application Showcase, featuring leading companies including TomTom, Tap 11, Bing, BeeJive, Square and many more.

Additionally, attendees and developers will be able to learn about developing and marketing their own apps at a series of iPhone-dedicated training sessions.

Apple will be surprisingly absent from the Macworld exhibition, having pulled out of the 2010 event just prior to the 2009 show. Whether the exhibition can garner enough interest from the rest of the Apple ecosystem remains to be seen. When IDG World Expo tried to run shows in Boston and New York without Apple, the events were a shell of their former selves.

It is hoped however that given the recent launch of the iPad tablet and the billions of iPhone applications sold to date will give Macworld the injection it needs to be a success without Apple’s active participation.

The Macworld conference runs from Feb 9-13, with the expo running from Feb 11-13 at the San Francisco CA Moscone Center, for more information see Macworld Expo
