New ISO 9001 for Small Businesses handbook released

The International Organization for Standardization has released a new edition of ISO 9001 for Small Businesses. The new edition of the popular handbook has been updated to include changes to ISO 9001 published in 2008. The handbook is the third edition in a series that helps small businesses understand and implement the ISO standard for quality management systems.

ISO 9001 Small BusinessThe 2010 handbook of ISO 9001 has been prepared by a team of experts to explain the standard in plain English, using examples. ISO Secretary-General Rob Steele believes the handbook will benefit SMEs all over the world. “We hope that it will enable small businesses – in developing, transitional and industrialised economies – to draw the maximum benefits from ISO 9001, a standard which has become an essential tool of the world economy”. National editions will follow in ISO countries. Adherence to international ISO standards increases efficiency and effectiveness in small business, and simplifies interaction and integration with global enterprises, governments and international customers.

ISO 9001 is a family of standards used in 176 countries by small, medium and large business enterprises, across private and public sectors, in many industries and manufacturing sectors. ISO 9001 for Small Business retails for approximately fifty Australian dollars.
