QLD businesses call for payroll tax cuts

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) has proposed a major shake-up of the payroll tax system, calling for the state to give businesses a 50 percent payroll tax.

CCIQ have asked the Federal Government to provide the state of Queensland with $3 billion to fund the payroll tax cuts, in order to create jobs.

CCIQ president Beatrice Booth said the measure would help to guarantee up to 28,000 jobs in the state and has the backing of the Australian Chamber of Commerce.

“We look forward to talking with the governments, and we certainly look forward to some relief [for] business so that we can ensure that this state and indeed this nation, will recover from this recession in a much better position than any of the other states or countries currently in the same position,” she said.
