Slimmest Samsung smartphone released

Galaxy A8 - Samsung

The slimmest ever smartphone from Samsung has been released. Why haven’t you heard much about it? It has only been launched in China.

Samsung has unveiled their Galaxy A8 – without much worldwide publicity – in China with a rumoured starting price of 3,499 yuan (around $AUD764).

According to specs released by Engadget, the new phone isn’t exactly pushing the envelope with eye-popping features. It’s basically a suitable mid-range device, with an 8-core Snapdragon 615 chip, 2GB of RAM, and a 5.7-inch 1080p OLED display.

It’s the body-size factor that marks it apart. The metal body measurement comes in at a thin 5.9mm, weighing just 151 grams, yet managing to fit a 3,050mAh battery. This 3,050mAh battery, to put in comparison, is bigger than the battery that comes in Samsung’s Galaxy S6 line.

There’s no word yet on if, or when, the Galaxy A8 will be hitting the Australian market.
