Social media at the fore in City of Sydney Business Awards

With just a few days left to cast votes in the 2011 City of Sydney Business Awards, organisers have noted a rise in the number of nominated businesses running innovative social media campaigns.

Over 550 businesses have been nominated across 22 categories since the awards opened four weeks ago, with over 43,600 votes cast thus far.

Organisers have been especially impressed by the social media campaigns many nominated businesses are running, as they attempt to round up more votes. Some excellent examples include:

  • Strand Hatters – this CBD favourite has produced a video asking people to vote for their stylish creations  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J183h0iNvDA
  • Universal Favourite – a creative solutions agency that’s winning support as voters download an app, snap and send to vote: http://universalfavourite.com.au
  • Show Pony Fashion – a fun boutique on Broadway in Ultimo that’s running a great viral campaign with this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8_sekaK8MU
  • 4Promote – a specialty advertising agency holding a photo competition alongside their play in the Awards http://4promote.com.au/photo-contest

Voters have also been getting involved with social media, with over 1000 sharing their votes with their online communities at Twitter and Facebook.

Additionally, the Business Awards Facebook page has had over 32,000 views since the competition launched in June.
