Telstra releases new broadband packages

Telstra releases new broadband packages
Telstra Corporation Ltd has released a series of new broadband plans, offering customers a range of bundled packages.
The nation’s biggest telco said the new broadband plans would offer customers faster speeds and higher data allowances for the same price, while excess usage fees had been removed on most plans. A range of bundled packages will also be offered to deliver broadband, home phone and Foxtel on a single bill.
Telstra chief executive David Thodey had flagged the changes at a company investor day in October.
“Today I’m announcing a whole new range of broadband products which I believe will create great value for our customers,” he said in Sydney on Thursday.
The changes are expected to come in from December 1.

iPrimus Marketing and Product General Manager Andrew Sims has dismissed Telstra’s newly announced Broadband plans noting that they are still well behind the average industry plan.

“Online gaming and video usage in Australia has been significant for several years so for Telstra to only just realise this and update their plans accordingly, shows their lack of understanding and commitment to their customers. Yet their best offers announced today still comes nowhere near matching plans offered by the rest of the industry.

“For example, for the same price and at the same speed, the iPrimus Starter Plus ADSL2+ plan offers five times more data allowance than the Telstra plan. I struggle to understand how Telstra can justify the price differential to their customers,” said Mr Sims
