Telstra Ultimate USB doubles NextG broadband speeds for $69/month

Telstra has released the Telstra Ultimate USB mobile internet device to Australian small and medium business customers, delivering up to double the speed of existing Telstra NextG USB modems.

Telstra Ultimate USBTelstra’s Ultimate USB device which has been trialled by selected businesses since August – provides typical download speeds ranging from 1.1Mbps to 20Mbps, in all capital CBDs and in 100 regional centres, putting it on par with fixed line internet speeds in most cases.

Executive Director of Telstra Business, Brian Harcourt, said the release of the Telstra Ultimate USB device would be welcomed by the 50.5 percent of businesses already using mobile broadband for work.

When it came to small business users, Telstra through Pureprofile surveyed more than 174 small business owners who worked remotely and found that 44 percent spent more than 10 hours working remotely, with 40 percent using mobile broadband to work outside the office.

Mobile broadband speed was one of the key sticking points for survey respondents, with 95 percent who use mobile broadband view speed as important, very important or vital; and 50 percent who use mobile broadband believe that high speeds are vital.

“Technology is allowing more Australians to work remotely and efficiently, and achieve better work life balance,” Mr Harcourt said.

Poor mobile broadband performance is hampering work efficiency for remote workers, of the half (50.5%) of Australians using mobile broadband for work, 82.7 percent say poor mobile broadband speed has hampered their work efficiency.

Telstra’s Ultimate USB device will cost business customers $299 if bought outright, or is $0 upfront on a $69 mobile broadband plan over 24 months.
