Twitter accuses web promotions company of spam

Web promotions company uSocial.net is in hot water after Twitter moved to shut them down, claiming the advertising agency was “spamming.”

uSocial has been selling followers on the micro-blogging site, offering packages of between 1,000 and 10,000 followers. Having recently been given a Cease & Desist order from DIgg after selling votes on the site, they are now being given a shutdown order by Twitter.

Twitter has accused the promotions company of using the micro-blogging site for spam purposes, however uSocial CEO Leon Hill said the claims are false.

“The definition of spam is using electronic messaging to send unsolicited communication and as we don’t use Twitter for this, the claims are false,” he said.

According to Hill, they are “not going away that easily,” and will continue to sell the service.
