Blogging is a highly effective form of marketing – if your business doesn’t have a blog, you may be missing out on a great opportunity to increase your search engine visibility, and engage your customers.

Blogging is a marketing strategy that builds up over time. As the amount of content on your site increases, you will gain subscribers and start building up a loyal following.

So just how do you encourage readers to click on the subscribe button? Here are five ways you can get people to subscribe to your blog.

Make sure the subscription button on your blog is visible and easy to find.

If your readers don’t know how to subscribe, they won’t. Make it as easy as possible for them by putting a visible subscribe button at the top of your site.

Write good quality content.

Your readers aren’t going to want to keep returning if the content on your blog is not relevant to them, or is poorly written. Make sure it is going to be valuable in some way to your readers and that it is engaging. Boring blog posts won’t win you any subscribers.

Offer incentives for subscribing

At the very least, provide your readers with a good reason to subscribe by letting them know the benefits of reading your blog. Other effective incentives include a free e-book, a guide to solving a particular problem your readers may have, or a tip sheet.

Make sure your blog is SEO friendly.

Optimising your blog for the search engines will enable more people to find it. The more people read your blog the more people are likely to subscribe to it. Use keywords in the title, content and URL, and make sure your blog headers have the right tags so search engines can easily discover them.

Make it easy for readers to share your blog with others.

By letting your readers share your blog posts on social media, you are letting them do the work of promoting your blog for you. Make sure you have visible social media sharing buttons on your blog so that readers can pass on anything they like to their friends. This is a highly effective way to expand your subscription network, without any effort on your part.

Building up your blog subscribers is a long-term process, but the suggestions above can help you speed things up. By increasing your exposure and building up your reputation and credibility with your readers, you can help drive sales and promote your business. It is well worth the time and effort.
