Telstra challenges businesses to reach potential

Telstra is using its Innovation Challenge to search for new research and development projects to support in 2010.

TelstraTelstra is looking to support projects with the potential to benefit industry or consumers and which are relevant to Telstra’s business. Challenge winners will be given assistance including access to Telstra networks, facilitated meetings with suppliers and advice and mentoring from specialists within Telstra.

There is usually a wide variety of projects submitted, according to Telstra Chief Technology Officer, Dr Hugh Bradlow.

“We have no pre-conceived notions as to what projects might win our support, so we’d encourage anyone who thinks their work would benefit from our assistance to apply through the Telstra Innovation Challenge”

“There is a wealth of projects being undertaken – by research institutes, start-ups, universities, established companies or equipment vendors – that could benefit from our support”, says Dr Bradlow”.

Last year Telstra selected five Australian innovations in health, network and data security, monitoring and teleconferencing from more than 220 submissions.

The first part of the Telstra Innovation Challenge closes on 9 July 2010. Interested parties need to submit a proposal to Telstra’s online website. A shortlist will then be selected and the chosen finalists will be invited to present to a panel of senior Telstra executives in August.
