This week was a big week in business news. Just to highlight a few; Meriton received a hefty fine, a founder is changing the childcare sector, there’s a new ABA Banking Code of Practice and Coles received lots of media attention for it’s bag fiasco.

Meriton receives a $3m fine

Meriton was found by the Federal Court to have withheld from the travel website the emails of guests who had complained or had a negative experience between November 2014 and October 2015.

Meet the founder flipping Australia’s childcare system on it’s head

KidNest is the latest sharing economy app that will provide urgent relief to parents around the country. The platform was developed by single dad and entrepreneur, Tim Wise, who noticed a lot of parent-baby groups gathered at parks or cafes. He thought about how great it would be for parents to join together and help look after each other’s children for the day, creating various childminding Nests in the privacy of their own homes.

New ABA banking code of practice

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, Kate Carnell,  has welcomed the approval by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) of the Australian Banking Association’s (ABA) Banking Code of Practice.

Coles attracts media attention 

In the past few days there has been strong criticism of Coles, both online and in the media, over its decision to backflip on its stance on providing free plastic bags to shoppers.
