Entrepreneur steps down as CEO of KX Pilates

KX Pilates founder Aaron Smith has stepped down from his position as Chief Executive Officer eight years after he founded the award-winning fitness franchise. Smith will continue to serve as the sole shareholder of the company and will play an important role in the overall brand direction of the company. Replacing Smith will be Selina Bridge, the former General Manager of Curves Oceania.

KX Pilates, which Smith started in 2010 with one studio in Malvern, Victoria, has grown to over 52 locations, with studios located across all states of Australia, and more recently opened its first international location in Jakarta, Indonesia. The annual revenue for 2017/18 was $20AUD million.

KX Pilates offers a fast paced, high intensity, body-toning workout in just 50 minutes, fusing elements of traditional reformer Pilates with cardio and endurance workout.

Aaron Smith, KX Pilates founder, said, “When I started the business my goal was to reach 50 KX studios within ten years so I am thrilled to have hit the target early.

“I’m delighted that we’re moving into the next phase of growth and have identified the potential to grow between 120 and 150 more KX studios across Australia to be achieved within the next five years. We also have further plans for international expansion too.

“Selina brings a wealth of relevant industry experience and I am pleased to have her join the team and be driving our performance goals during this next phase.”

Bridge, said, “I look forward to working with the KX Pilates team to further grow the business, leveraging the great work that Aaron and his team have done to build an extraordinarily strong and reputable fitness brand.”

“I am passionate about the health & fitness industry and see a wealth of opportunity for the KX brand to continue its expansion across Australia and overseas,” she said.
