How long will your business be profitable?

Your business is profitable? Maybe not for much longer….

One thing I concentrate on in my business is being resourceful, not resourceFULL. In other words, being creative and innovative in the way I approach problems and solutions to ensure my “best” ideas are shining through, rather than being “lazy” by relying on existing or additional resources.

Retail is going through one of the biggest transformations it has ever seen, and the consumer is driving that change. If you’re in retail and still doing the same old, same old, you’re either an exceptional retailer or blindfolded to what’s going on.

The same revolution occurring in retail is occurring in B2B as well. Those that grab the reins and run with them now will have huge success; those that rest on their laurels in fancy offices will be left in an empty office.

Turn your Business Model on its head.

Who says it needs to be exactly as the other businesses in your industry?

Who says it needs to stay as it is?

Who says we have to settle for mediocre? Are you really bringing your A-Game to your business each and every day, and giving this to your clients? No; perhaps it’s time to turn your business model around.

Who says we have to have an office, and clients should come to us?

Who says we can’t do business in our jammies while our client is in their jammies?  (Remember the clothes you’re wearing do not alter the brilliant mind you have)

Technology allows us to turn many traditional business models upside down and inside out.

Question everything, every single day. You may be happy with your answer, but are your clients?

Listen to your clients. Listen to the marketplace.

The client is king. They always have been but, by golly, if you continue to sit on your pedestal and think they will continue coming to you because they should, you will get very lonely, very soon.

Where is the value on your service? What makes you valuable to your client?

I am not saying destroy a perfectly profitable business, but what I am saying is that the change is coming and unless you innovate, it may not be profitable for much longer.

A great resource for rethinking your business model is the book Business Model Generation by Alexander Osterwalder & Yves Pigneur, check it out.
