If you’ve got a great idea for an innovation that would benefit Australia’s primary industries, then this could be an award for you.

Young innovators aged 18 to 35 are invited to apply for the Department of Agriculture 2014 Science and Innovation Awards.

The Awards offer the opportunity to win grants of up to $22,000 to fund an innovative research project across eleven categories.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are now open for application, including a dairy category with a Dairy Australia sponsored award – a grant that has helped propel young innovators into rewarding dairy careers.

Additional funding is available for one outstanding project through the Minister for Agriculture Award, which is open to winners of the industry category awards.

The Awards encourage science, innovation and new technology in primary industries and helps to advance the careers of promising young innovators and scientists through national recognition of their research ideas.

Since 2001 more than 180 young Australians have benefited from an Award grant, with successful recipients using their funding for a range of activities including research projects, industry visits, study, training and development, or conferences and workshops.

Applications for the Awards close 5pm, Friday 8 November 2013. Further information and application forms are available at the Department of Agriculture website.
