Online pet food start-up launches

Pet food start-up pawsforlife.com.au has opened doors to orders, promising to change the way its customers buy quality food for their dogs.

The entrepreneurs behind the new business, Kim Miller and Michael Frizell, said the online-only business was borne after they noticed the quality of pet food sold at supermarkets wasn’t up to scratch and people were being forced to visit pet stores to buy bulk amounts of food.

With pawsforlife.com.au, consumers select the brand of pet food they want online and decide how often it needs to be delivered, and the start-up creates a personalised standing order that guarantees regular delivery to the doorstep of pet lovers.

“Pawsforlife.com.au’s objective is to break shoppers habits of purchasing unsatisfactory shelved brands and switch to our new sales channel that saves them both time and money,” Miller said.

“A few clicks online are saving our customers weekly trips to the supermarket, and lugging home big bags of pet food. The shopper can order once and forget about it – we take care of the rest and automate everything.”

Frizell said the business has a strong charitable focus, and as both founders are animal lovers they came up with the Two Mouths initiative.

“We will drop off a weeks’ worth of food to a rescue shelter in our network, with every delivery. We call this our Two Mouths initiative. We are already helping three organisations re-home more dogs in Australia; DCH Animal Adoptions, Hunter Animal Rescue and The Lost Dogs Home.”
