Get involved in Victoria’s Small Business Festival

Victoria’s Small Business Festival will soon kick off for the entire month of August, and includes a series of events covering current business trends and issues, as well as relevant solutions and tips.

The festival will give small businesses from across Victoria the opportunity to learn practical new skills and access new ideas to help boost their productivity and competitiveness.

Events cover a wide range of business topics such as business planning, marketing, social media, networking, financial management and more.

Feature events for 2013 include the following:

Festival hub

The hub is situated in Federation Square, and serves to provide an informal environment for visitors to learn about low cost and free small business services offered throughout the year. There will also be a number of special events presented by a number of small business experts.

Daily activities include networking sessions, panel discussions, interactive events, and the chance to win prizes. The Mobile Business Centre will also be on hand to offer free business mentoring sessions and up-to-date-information for your business.

When: 25 July – 13 August, 10.30am-6.30pm daily
Where: Federation Square, Swanston Street Forecourt, Melbourne
Cost: Access to the Hub is free with the exception of special events.

Tech trends series

Author and journalist Brad Howarth will host discussion events across the state of Victoria on how technology can be used to boost sales and streamline business practices.

Howarth will discuss current and emerging technology including mobile marketing, cloud hosting, Internet security, online payment systems and more. Click here for locations and more details.

Webinars

For those small business owners who can’t head along to an event, the festival will also be hosting a free webinar series.

Leading business educators will offer practical advice about a range of business skills and services, and can be accessed wherever you are doing business.

All webinars are free and presented live online. All you need is a computer and an Internet connection. Details on the different webinars and how to register are available here.
