How not to burn out as an entrepreneur: 3 tips to keep you balanced in 2022

Entrepreneurs. We are creative, hard-working, self-motivated and unapologetic. But we are usually terrible at taking care of our health and wellbeing.

We don’t know when to take a holiday, ignore the early signs of burnout, and sometimes even neglect our basic healthcare needs.

But moving into 2022, it’s time for a change. It’s time for us entrepreneurs to check in with ourselves. To put time and energy back into our health and wellbeing. And to make sure we are still enjoying our business and personal lives.

How do we do it? We start by incorporating the following three principles into our day to day lives.

Do more of the things you love

This sounds simple. But sometimes, it’s the simple things that are the most difficult to integrate. Suppose you’re neglecting to do the things that bring you joy. In that case, you won’t be able to keep pouring energy and creativity into your business.

By making time to explore your creative pursuits, maintain friendships and follow your interests, you will serve your business by keeping your ideas alive and your attitude flexible, plus you’ll be enjoying your life.

Doing more of the things you love doesn’t mean throwing away all the hard work you’ve done, nor does it mean you’re being lazy. It means incorporating joy and happiness into your days by meeting up with friends, taking art classes or taking the time to try cooking new dinner recipes.

You will likely find that you are even more productive when you make time for yourself because you’ll feel empowered by doing the things you love. Shifting your mindset to acknowledging that rest and joy are actually productive is key.

Ask for help

As entrepreneurs, we love trying to do everything ourselves. We create huge unrealistic to-do lists, which can never be completed in a day. This leaves us overwhelmed, feeling like a failure and burning out. Instead, try to create manageable and achievable to-do lists that get the job done and leave you feeling a mixture of motivation and satisfaction.

Also, ask for help when I need it. Delegate to your team, ask your friends for help and reach out to your partner for support. Seeking help from those around you will allow you to focus on what you do best in your business. This will also ultimately will enable you to be more productive.

Focus on what you do best

It can be easy to get distracted by what others around you are doing, and while it’s important to keep an eye on your competition, don’t let it control you! If you try to keep up with everyone around you in every department, you will burn out.

Constantly comparing yourself with your friends, coworkers, and competition will leave you feeling frustrated and fatigued. Instead, acknowledge that everyone has their genius, then learn what yours is and excel in it.
